Ras Levy & Leona de Etiopia are two emerging Reggae artists who have made a name for themselves in the bustling streets Mexico City. An unsuspecting place to find a strong Reggae influence, Mexico City has a vivid music scene which has embraced Reggae music to a great extent. There are multiple sound systems, artists, and venues which, for the last 20 years, have helped cement the Reggae music foundation in this city of over 20 million. Emerging out of this amalgamation are a devout Rastafarian couple who go by the names Ras Levy & Leona de Etiopia. The two have forged solid musical careers in their native city developing a strong following through their delivery of conscious lyrics and uplifting messages.
For this single they reached out to one of Mexico's best Reggae/Dub producers Dukas from Bungalo Dub/Seven Records MX. Dukas has a long standing history in the production of some of Mexico's most recognizable Reggae names as well as prominent Bungalo Dub remixes of various top notch artists. Sgt Remo is a native of Juarez, Mexico who today lives in the United States. He has created a buzz in the global Reggae community in recent years with several solid releases which have cemented his name in the landscape of Reggae music. While on tour in Mexico City Sgt Remo was invited to collaborate on this track and made a stop by the Seven Records MX studio delivering what would be the chorus on this song as well as a solid verse.
What makes this combination unique is the fact that it is delivered in both Spanish and Patois. Ras Levy & Leona de Etiopia both deliver their fiery lyrics in Spanish while Sgt Remo voiced his lyrics in his signature Patois. The official video for this song features subtitles so all viewers are able to grasp the content of the entire song.
