It has been a few weeks since I have been able to post any blogs. It has been difficult to keep up since things have been super busy. I hope that everything is Blessed for everyone as we approach a very special time of the year. Additionally the ending of the Mayan calendar and the beginning of a new time approaches rapidly. This is an exciting time for me since I have heard of this period for many years past. It is a blessing to be a part of it all. I hope that the company of friends and family makes this a memorable time for everyone. Here are just some updates regarding the latest happening in Sgt. Remo Music!
The album Life Is for Living was featured as the album of the month of December in the long running reggae radio show Reggae Runnings: Brotherhood Sound Edition on KSFR.org broadcast live from Santa Fe, NM. The Brotherhood Edition of Reggae Runnings has been a staple of the South West’s reggae music scene for years. The original Brotherhood selector Don Martin has been providing the reggae massive with a steady dose of the latest in Reggae and Dancehall for the last 20 years. Based out of Santa Fe, NM, Reggae Runnings has a solid fan base throughout the U.S. as well as a broad following worldwide.
Being invited to feature the album on Reggae Runnings was a unique opportunity to connect with the Brotherhood Sound’s listeners. I did a lengthy interview with Don Martin which was aired during the show on December 1st. It was a good chance to introduce some of my new music and also touch base with the listeners. I’ve had the opportunity of having a well-developed a relationship with the Rocky Mountains Reggae community that goes back to 2004 when I lived in Albuquerque, NM for several years. Actually, two of the songs on the album were produced and recorded in New Mexico. Thanks to Don Martin, Reggae Runnings, and of course all the people of NM, CO, and the online listeners everywhere who tuned in. The album has also been featured in several other radio stations throughout. Special thanks to all the radio personalities for playing the music!
I have been promising some additional music projects for some time. Brand new music that you will see in the near future includes the song Revolution released on McPullish’s riddim album titled Shepherd Riddim. The riddim album is jam packed with some killer songs including the title song Shepherd by Jahn Ti, and big tunes by Chezidek, Tippa Irie, Island Rose, and Ken Serious’ big tune Bring the Ganja, as well as dub versions by McPullish. Another song that will be released in the coming months was the collaboration with Mexico City’s Cuartito De Ajah Sound System on the Donkey Riddim.
The song is called Remo Rankin. This project was a great opportunity to cooperate with one of Mexico City’s top sound systems. The Reggae music scene in Mexico’s capital city of over 20 million is growing rapidly and producing some serious artists and producers. Selector Joshua of Cuartito De Ajah Sound System is one of the pioneers of the reggae scene in Mexico City who have helped cement a solid foundation which will undoubtedly continue to grow. It was an honor and a pleasure to be invited to collaborate on this project. I am looking forward to hearing the entire album.
The last album I am eager to check out is the Maya Riddim album. The Life Is for Living EP features my version of the riddim titled Marie. This project, based out of Guadalajara, MX, turned out to have a huge turn out of international artists. Hotta Lava Music created a massive riddim and there was no lack of artists who were ready to be part of the album. The album includes top tunes by Nico D, I Nesta, I Mosa, Jose Dolores aka Pato B, Ricky Benz, Alerta Kamarada and many more top artists from all over the Caribbean and the Americas.
