A certified ganja tune, Texas Kush kicks off with Sgt. Remo’s catchy pre chorus “Texas kush, wi nuh smoke no bush.” Houston mic general Mr. Blacc Sheep (Trinidad) is up next delivering a ton load of lyrics and a few kilos of swagger, before Ras I-Dre (Jamaica) blazes a fyah ‘pon the riddim. The “Moving Up’ artist, Fyah Sthar (Jamaica), turns the vibes up a notch, as if you could get any higher!

But wait, we’re only half way through the 3:30 minute song. Kroywen (NY, Trinidad) blesses up the herbs with his soulful vocals before Soulfiya (Guyana) goes “Maad” on the riddim. Sgt. Remo brings us back down to earth with the last chorus. And of course, this one requires a “Haul and pull up my selecta!!!”

Mexican-born, San Antonio, Texas based Sgt. Remo has been a steady force in American reggae since his debut EP Life is for Living in 2012. Sgt. Remo is coming off a spectacular 2023 releasing 12 singles and the outstanding CDMX Sessions EP. Sgt. Remo and his band, The Vibratones, worked a demanding schedule of shows in 2023 including performances at Austin Reggae Festival, Houston Reggae Festival, and presentations all over Texas. Remo also performed a 9-date Mexico tour. The single Texas Kush is part of the upcoming Sgt. Remo album (2024). The full-length album will feature collaborations with Chezidek, Fidel Nadal, Kutral Dub and more.

Sgt. Remo Bio

Sgt. Remo, is a Mexican-American reggae singer known throughout the U.S. and Latin America for his powerful music and his energetic performances. Remo is a native of Juarez, Mexico. He immigrated to the border city of El Paso at a young age where he graduated high school and joined the U.S. Navy.

He started recording and performing reggae music in the early 2000’s. The unlikely reggae artist emerged on the international reggae scene in 2012 with the debut EP Life is for Living released on his label Jah Yutes Entertainment (JYE). Sgt. Remo has been a resident of San Antonio, Texas since 2014.

In 2014, Sgt Remo released the album Give Thanks for Life and achieved his first international underground hit Rastafari Way.  The album was recognized by New York’s AIRM’s Top 30 Reggae Albums of 2014 and by Denmark’s Reggae Moods top 15 Roots & Culture Albums of the Year. Since then, he has released 3 other albums and has appeared in multiple compilations.

He tours regularly throughout the U.S. and Mexico and has become a well-known and respected artist in the global reggae community. His latest project Sgt. Remo & The Vibratones brings together some of San Antonio's best reggae musicians. Together they have been delivering powerful performances in Texas performing at the San Antonio Coffee Festival, Austin Reggae Festival, Houston Reggae Festival and many regional performances.

Sgt. Remo is also the mastermind behind King Remo Sound System, San Antonio's first custom sound system. The sound system is one of only few in the Southwest and has helped to bring awareness to sound system culture by showcasing the different elements of the culture.  "To me the sound system is just an extension of reggae. Reggae has the selector, the DJ, the sound system, the band, Rastafari culture, and all the forms of art associated with it. We're not doing anything new really, we're just presenting reggae it in its full form, with a big bad sound system."
